It seems I'm just bound and determined to keep my SV loving flisties busy during this hiatus. Even with the holidays likely keeping us occupied. At least they are keeping me crazy busy.

So, to update on the picspam project, I'm trying to narrow it down, get the caps I want, find a way to present them in a manner that encompasses why they are meaningful for me, and so on. And Damn, this is far more difficult then I thought it would be. I mean, there are a few that immediately jump out at me, but then there are about 50 others that I could use. Not that this should come as a big shock to anyone, but my picspam will be very Clark-centric, and I'm finding myself zeroing in on moments that feel like milestones in his relationships with the people closest to him. So, I find myself not choosing the guest star moments.

Anyway, has anyone else started to narrow this down?

Now, onto Project #2, and this one should be far easier. I'm entitling this one "Dear Santa, The 10 things I want from Smallville for the rest of the season/Season 10 are...". And since that is an easy one, we'll just use this post as the kick-off.

I actually haven't come up with my Dear Santa list yet, but I'll edit this post when I do. But I figured I might as well throw this one out to my friends, and let you get started on your lists. Feel free to post your responses here, or if you would prefer, post them on your own journal, and provide the link here. That way you can get your flists involved too.

Have fun, and who knows? Maybe Santa will grant some requests...though I'm thinking "All Nude Clark Episode" is probably a long shot ;)

Dear Santa,

1. Can we please have more Clark focus, and more POV from him? I don't think I should have to guess as to why the main character is doing what he's doing.

2. Some Clark/Tess scenes. Hopefully ones that don't include any violence.

3. Clark's mommy to come home to Smallville for a visit

4. Some sort of mention/reference to Lana, i.e. where she is, what she's doing, and even maybe Clark showing he's totally at peace with that.

5. Oliver, Bart and Dinah apologizing to Clark for shooting him in the back.

6. A full-out fight between Clark and Chloe, with both of them airing their grievances, and letting it all hang out. This can be followed with them making peace, and coming to a new phase of their friendship.

7. No more no-win scenarios for Clark, or "Its all my fault" or "I should've listened to -insertnamehere-" or "I had no choice". Just chuck that shit out the window, and get a new act.

8. Clark gaining a new confidante he can talk to, and share with. I nominate Martian Manhunter. I'd also be OK with Victor/Cyborg.

9. Maxima makes a return, and she's willing to fight for what she wants, which is Clark!

10. A much more present and visible Tom Welling when it comes to promotion and publicity for the show, to include any of the following: interviews, photo shoots, DVD commentaries, another Comic Con appearance.

1) More Clark-centric episodes
2) Clark's POV as the main viewer POV
3) decent scripts for Tom & Allison to direct
4) No more fake Lexes
5) A TV interview from Tom
6) DVD commentary from Tom on the episode he directs
7) Visit from Uncle Zor-El
8) An apology from Oliver to Clark for leaving him in the street in Doomsday. An apology from Chloe for spying on Clark.
9) More exterior filming
10) I want to see Clark's Lex scrapbook!

I've now updated with my own list. :)

Love yours!

Uncle Zor-El, eh? SCIENCE!!

I realized belatedly that maybe I was supposed to post my list in my journal, not in your comments? Sorry! Posted right before bed when reading comprehension was at its dullest.

Uncle Zor-El, eh? SCIENCE!!.
That actor is now part of the Twilight universe so he may not be with SV's budget any more, alas! I enjoyed Zor-El immensely.

Well, its up to you where you want to post it. I just thought if people posted it in their journals, then they could get their own flists involved. But ultimately, its wherever you want.

Aha. The picspam will probably be easier for me than a wishlist. Now I just need the brain to look for pics...

I found trying to find the right pictures a bit frustrating.

Making a wish list though? Much easier for me.

I second the list from tasabian except I'll substitute for #5 and #7:
5) Have Chloe's arc come to the appropriate conclusion - ie that her current actions are simply not acceptable behaviour for a hero. if she's to be redeeemed, let it be a genuine thing and not the half-assed Roulette route.
7) No more Clark being "wrong" for making the right decision. If things don't work out with Zod, have it be because of the way other people react. Be unambiguous for once (that goes with Tasabian's #2).

She had a good list, didn't she?

I see a lot of us have the same hopes, at least for Clark.

Dear Non-Denominational Holiday Guy/Girl,

Here's what I would like to see for the rest of this season on Smallville:

1. More Clark/Tom screen time
2. More Clark storylines
3. Let's not have everything be ALL CLARK'S FAULT
4. Have Chloe stop being a condescending biatch, apologize to Clark, and act like a normal person.
5. A Tom TV interview (stealing that one from Tas)
6. A proper series/season ending that ties things up nicely.
7. More Clark happiness- whether it's him being happy with Lois or happy saving the world or whatever.
8. An episode where Clark & Oliver spend the whole time shirtless. Maybe there could be some kind of Krypto-Freak that eats ALL the shirts in Smallville & Metropolis? :-)
9. A Martha Kent visit (one that makes sense)
10. And either re-cast him or not, but where the hell is Perry White, already?
Dec. 3rd, 2009 06:03 pm (UTC)
LOL. This can be a wish list to anyone.

I think you might get #8, at least with Oliver. In fact, didn't we get that with Toxic?
Dec. 3rd, 2009 09:55 am (UTC)
1) More Clark screentime.
2) More Clark-centric episodes.
3) Clark expressing his POV.
4) More shirtless scenes for Tom.
5) Martha back in Clark's life.
6) Lois storylines that aren't just about Clois.
7) A funny episode where Clark and Oliver have a boys' night out, maybe raise a little hell.
8) Tom doing PR for the show.
9) Tom commentary on the S10 DVDs.
10) Gag reel!
Dec. 3rd, 2009 06:04 pm (UTC)
Oh, I would love a boys night out! How much fun would that be?

I would love to know the real story RE: gag reels.
Dec. 4th, 2009 08:38 am (UTC)
They're both gorgeous, in fantastic physical shape, and both actors have wonderful comedic skills. Oliver can charm the pants off anyone, and Clark has superpowers. The possibilities are endless!

I'd like to know what the story is with the gag reels, too. I suspect Tom just said no (whether because of the compensation issues or not wanting those unguarded moments made public, IDK), and either everyone else followed suit, or after that one year TPTB decided gag reels without the star weren't worth it. I remember SMG was never in the Buffy gag reels, it was disappointing. Although I would have loved the SV ones for MR alone.

I'm still hoping they'll give us an all-encompassing gag reel, either on the last season DVDs, or on the inevitable complete series box set. I've seen a couple of shows do that. It's really too bad, though. Supernatural has great gag reels, and I know they factor into fans deciding to buy the DVDs. Sometimes the stuff they do is obviously staged just for the gag reel, but it's all still fun to watch.

1. More Chloe screentime period
2. More Clark screentime that is not focused on ships
3. Lois pushed into the background where she belongs IMO
4. Fewer shirtless scenes- I've found most of these to be totally unnecessary
5. Clark and Chloe become real friends again
6. Lex to stay away (I used to love the character, but he should be gone until Clark becomes Superman)
7. At least one commentary from Tom and Allison
8. No more shipper episodes. Shippy stuff should be only a few moments, not the focus of an entire episode
9. Bring back Martha Kent, but in a way that serves the plot
10. Most important- Chloe to be happy again. Not "happy" like when she was with Jimmy, but real happiness
Dec. 3rd, 2009 06:05 pm (UTC)
I'm really torn on your #6, because on one hand, I totally agree, but on the other hand, I'd love to see MR again. On any given day, I fall on one side or the other.

I think Clark-centric eps might be unanimous! How unusual for my flist. LOL

A Clark voice-over ep? Hmm,I never thought of that. It would be great. I used to want a Clark flashback ep, so we could get a glimpse of young Clark, struggling with his powers, and feeling isolated, and trying to fit in. But now, without Jonathan or Martha, I know I won't get that :(

Tom in GQ? *drools*

Dear Santa, I'd really love...
1) Season 10.
2) Lois/Erica in all 22 episodes next season.
3) Lex/Michael to come back for series finale.
4) I want Clark & Lois to be handled right. Let them be in a mature relationship, and find a way to make it work. No cheep drama.
5) For the show to continue giving us Clark's POV.
6) For both Clark and Lois to have storylines that are not just about their romance.
7) For Clark and Ollie to become friends, or at least have a few friendly scenes that are not all about some pressing danger. Clark could use some guy friends.
8) For Clark to be right, and everyone else to be wrong.
Think last scene in Pandora - I don't want Clark looking like a schmuck at the end of the season, and Ollie and Chloe being smug for being right.
9) An apology from Ollie and JLA to Clark for shooting him in the back in Doomsday.
10) An apology from Chloe to Clark for the way she's been treating him. And for someone to call her on her Luthor-esque behaviour.

Re: Dear Santa, I'd really love...
AMEN on #8!! Bigtime. And I want that acknowledged by the show. I thought thats what we saw, more or less, with Doomsday last season, but the show told me up was down, and wrong meant right.

Definitely #9! Thats been a show changing moment for me. I'm still not over it.

  • 1. Since there are Kandorians on SV, have Kara come back and help Clark deal with them.

  • 2. The Martian Manhunter can come back and do whatever he wants to do. It's all fine with me.

  • 3. The General and Lucy can come back and give Lois and Chloe fits. I'd like to see Chloe interacting with people and not just superheroes.

  • 4. Have a steambath house for all the superheroes. They can plot and strategize against the bad guys while steaming those excess Superhero pounds away. And I can watch.

  • And I'm fine with Chloe. She's her own woman now, not Clark's sidekick and that is fine with me. If she wants to be snotty about Clark, well, she spent years adoring him and never got a rise out of him then. Now that he doesn't trust her anymore; he's thinking more about her than before. I guess that you take what you can get.
    Dec. 3rd, 2009 10:30 pm (UTC)
I'd love to see the General back. I have a thing for Michael Ironside. But Lucy? Hmmm, on that one, I'm mixed.

I like the steambath idea. :D

I'm commenting again now that you've added your wishes to say, of course, that I agree with everything. A very thoughtful and comprehensive list! #1, 7, and 10 should be the show's top priorities, IMO, and I really want to see #8! It goes hand-in-hand with getting Clark's POV, and MM is a fantastic suggestion. We've already seen how wonderful the dynamic between them can be, and besides, I just love Phil Morris.

I would like to see #6, too. I think AM is a talented actress, and her talent is being wasted. I have no love for a storyline where Chloe treats Clark with such obvious scorn, especially not when he just takes it, and I'm very much afraid they plan to drag it out over the entire season. Let's resolve it sooner rather than later, and, as you say, let them forge a new friendship, one that reflects who they both are now.
    Dec. 4th, 2009 11:59 am (UTC)
    Dear Santa...
Let me start with a loud YES to all items in your list!!! And I'll add a personal one to my own # Dear Santa please let me be engage with SV the way I once was (which of course is directly connected to all the items on the list coming true !!)#I usually take some time during the holidays to rewatch recent SV ep. But this year I think I'll break that tradition. Not only because I have serious issues with this first half of S9 but also because I would be flying solo(my dear younger sister has pulled the plug on SV,not on TW though, and a major part of my friends as well..."I'm the last girl standing"). So Santa it's time for you to work your magic! All I need is a sign...Oh I don't know: an extended Tom interview, (preferibly on video but I'm willing to compromise with a Magazine interview and LOTS of photos )might actually do it for me!!Thank you Santa!!

    Re: Dear Santa...
Yeah, it would be nice if Santa could also bring me the love I once had for the show. I do still love it, but I'm just not giddy about it like I used to be. I think I've just realized, finally, that this show is just never really going to be what I hoped it would be. What I think it should be.
    Dec. 6th, 2009 08:02 pm (UTC)
Agree with 1, 3, 4 (though I don't like Lana I like continuity and people actually mentioning people from their past), 6, 7, and 8 - not bothered about the others.

    Dec. 6th, 2009 09:43 pm (UTC)
I think its just important for the show to remember Lana, and to deal with her departure in a better way then they did with Requiem. Clark "closing the book" was a nice moment, but I'd really love to hear that Clark and Lana spoke on the phone, and both of them are at peace with the way things are, and both are moving on. And bottom line, Lana was a big part of the show for a long time, and I think that should get some respect.
    Dec. 7th, 2009 01:26 pm (UTC)
I agree, I feel the same about Martha. Also I think Smallville should mention family members more, like what about Clark's grandfather who appeared in one ep, did Jonathan and Martha have any siblings? Where is Chloe's father and Tess, does she have a family? I know they don't have time for all these things but it would be nice to mention some of them sometimes plus it makes the characters seem more rounded - and normal.
