Clark Kent Meme - Oracle, Vessel, Zod

The most I can say about these 3 eps is "Meh."  Its not that they're bad, its just that I don't enjoy them all that much either.  There are things I do like, Clark's surprise birthday party, Lois giving him advice, the Chlark kiss (though in hindsight, why?), Tom's hair in Zod, the Clark/Zod fight, Clark and Lois in the hospital, Chlark hugging at the DP.  But, there are also things I hate.  The bile spewed at Clark from Brainiac (expected), Lex (unfair, but sort of understandable), and Lana (just STFU!), the nonsensical plot line, Martha and Lois in the plane at the Arctic (why?), the way the whole thing was swept under the rug.

So, anyway, Clark was still Pretty, and isn't that the most important thing?

Look at the hair!  Its almost "Exile" hair.

Yeah, I love it, but my relationship with SV is complicated. I'm probably more of an early season lover, and I'm rather critical of the last few seasons.

Maybe they had Martha and Lois make a stop at the FoS because they figured so many other people already had? Lionel (as Jor-EL), Chloe, Lana,...:-)

I think you're right that my love of the Vessel kiss has kind of lessened after seeing where Chlark's relationship ended up going...

I also think that Clark had a pretty sucky birthday party in Oracle. Only 2 friends there, one didn't even have a present for him, and the present from his mom was baseball tickets from his dead father. What was up with that? I always thought that Martha should have given Clark those tickets privately...

I guess I just feel like the Chlark Vessel kiss was a big tease if it wasn't going to lead anywhere. Because it really was filmed as this big epic moment, and then...Pffftttt! So, why?

Unfortunately, SV makes a very small circle of people for its characters. I like that Clark's nearest and dearest were there.

I absolutely agree, and I feel the same way about Martha watching that video of Clark and his dad in "Vengeance" right where Clark could walk in. I know people handle grief differently, but I know that my mother died nearly 20 years ago and I've only just, over the past couple of years, felt as though MAYBE I could handle seeing home movies of her.

The only way I can spin Martha in her last couple of seasons is that Jonathan's death really threw her for a loop--but the truth is, she became podlike as far back as S3.

This was when I really turned against Lana. I can barely contain the anger I feel everytime I watch that scene in Vessel where she says she doesn't know how she could have ever loved him. It's the worst moment ever for her character IMO, because she wasn't under the influence of anything but her own delusions and petty mindedness.

But Lana and the Fortress's idiotic shenanigans aside, its a pretty solid trio of episodes. Granted we have a season finale and opener in there, but I can't think of a more recent trio I like better. I guess that says more about the growing unevenness of Smallville than anything. I really like the later seasons, but when they're bad they're really, really bad.

Actually, my real problem with Lana comes earlier in this episode, when she actually believes that Clark is going to go off and murder Lex, and then she informs a super-powered Lex of that, without knowing that Clark has super abilities himself, which would seem to be putting him directly in mortal danger. I just didn't get her, and a lot of her actions seemed motivated by spite, which isn't pretty for any character.

I rewatched these eps recently as well, but I can't remember if I documented that in any posts. I must go back and check. :)

I know with "Zod," I had to start ff-ing during the Chloe & Lionel scene early on where they're talking about Lionel being the Oracle and killing Lex/Zod. The kicker is: "You take care, Ms. Sullivan."/"You too, Mr. Luthor." Grr, I'll never be able to accept Lionel being buddy-buddy with the Good Guys, and here's but ONE reason why: *points at icon*

I wish there were more eps that I haven't watched that much, that also don't piss me off.:(

The Lionel thing was not very well handled. And the made the problem bigger by continuing to have Lionel do very dubious things. They wanted it both ways, but they couldn't have that. If they wanted to make it seem as though he truly underwent a transformation once he mind-melded with Jor-El, thats fine. But then they couldn't keep having the Magnificent Bastard show up.

lol..I love the last one from ZOD after Chloe and Clark talk about the kiss and he meets Jimmy. TW...you did it again with the facial expressions saying more then any lines can. What was up with the Chlark kiss being in there anyway? *shrugs*...by then I thought Chloe had given up on Clark that way? Yeah why did Brainiac crash divert the plane to the Arctic with Martha and Lois on board? To crash into the FOS? Heck he could have taken any plane in the world so why choose this one? Yup they dropped that one didn't they? At least we got Martha at the FOS talking to Jor-El and Lois later thinking she was heaven :) Loved seeing a tender moment between Clark and Lois...about time. Loved the whole "bow before ZOD" thing and how Clark defeats ZOD. Impaling Lana???? ZOD and Lana...I could have done without. Interesting to see where SV is going with the whole ZOD thing again eh?
