Clark Kent Meme - Scare, Unsafe, Pariah

Ah, Unsafe.  The episode that spawned a lot of fantasies.  I know the circumstances were controversial, but Tom and Sarah were Teh Hotness!!  Please, please, someone cast them in another project...which is, at least, R rated.

And the moment that many of us wanted to smash Martha Kent with a frying pan

The wet lips the pleading look in the first shot is KILLING ME!!

I thought the Calicia scenes were hot but I didn't care too much for the actress think it's jealousy?

Could be ;)

But I do get that. I like SC, but she does have a very particular style of acting, and a bit of a baby-ish voice. She's probably not generally the type of actress I'd like either, but she just worked for me. Probably due to her chemistry with Tom, which was just lightening in a bottle.

It was incredibly dysfunctional, but I could write a multi-page essay on it. It just hit me that strongly. I absolutely believe that had Alicia lived, Clark would still be tied to her, and they'd probably be into round 10 of their relationship.

I loved these episodes :) I thought Sarah and Tom really did their scenes so well and had my cheering for more Calicia but sadly it was so short lived. Even though the viva Las Vegas stuff was controversal I liked it because both of their characters wanted to be with someone and be special to them so bad and then you toss in "youth craziness" and some red "K" what a treat for us! I really loved the ice skating "date" and IMO Sarah enjoyed flirting with Tom and we were rewarded with some amazingly tender and cute sexy scenes. wow...

Great choices Val!

I think thats part of the fascination of Calicia. So much of it was done wrong, and yet underneath that wrongness, here was 2 people really strongly drawn towards one another. There was something very real at the core. I think Clark would've had a very tough time walking away from Alicia.

Well said Val. I'm trying to remember but isn't there a deleted scene from Safe where they are in the truck heading to the Talon and talking about being together again and wondering what people will think? Tom played the BF so well...supportive and to me an "in love" Clark...

LOL! For me, the Calicia love scenes haven't found their match in SV so far. And thanks for that lovely wet lips pic! Another one to add to my Unsafe file!

For me, Calicia is the top. Only Clex comes close. I happen to think Tom has good chemistry with all his leading ladies, and a number of guest actors and actresses as well. But Tom and Sarah? Hot like Fire!

It still makes me so mad that Alicia was killed off...wouldn't it have been awesome to have return appearances from SC to look forward to? She was so great at playing a wild card - you never knew if she'd be heroic or villainous; Alicia's one constant was wanting to shag Clark, which is very relatable!

I HATE that Alicia didn't get a longer arc in S4. I hate that they brought in a season long love interest for Lana (even though I liked Jason), but could only give us 2 Calicia eps. I think she should've been around for at least 7 eps.

I think one of the most fascinating things about Alicia was that she did some very bad, wrong things. But you always sort of understood where she was coming from, and what motivated her. And her pull towards Clark was powerful, and vice versa.

I'd hazard a guess that Alicia's short arc was due to the "Lana must always come first with Clark" mandate.

As you say to Tariel below, it's a shame Alicia never met Lex - they had quite a bit in common and both would have been hugely territorial around Clark. I think Clexicia would have generated a lot more sparks than Clexana!

If so, thats too bad. Because they could still have S4 conclude at the same place, but had both Clark and Lana engaged in longer alternate romances for the season.

Clexicia would've been smoking, but a bit more brutal, I think.

I suddenly have this urge to make that icon.

Great choice of pics!
I liked Unsafe even though I'm not a big fan of redK!Clark. I admit he's HOT but I prefer the real Clark.
As for that final Clark/Martha scene, I have to say that I fell out of love with her after watching it.

Its always a catch-22 with RedK!Clark. He's so hot, and Tom is so good at playing him, but he's not really our sweet, lovable Clark. Thats why I'd love to see Tom tackle a role like this in a different project.

And this was a lowpoint for Martha. I think I finally wanked it to myself that she reacted the way she did because she knew that Clark's pull towards Alicia was powerful and real, and so she was reacting out of fear. But still, STFU woman!

Alicia is my favorite with Clark. She was misguided and a little bit crazy, but she let Clark be himself and reveled in every part of him. And she wasn't evil, she was lonely, and vulnerable, and I think she truly loved Clark. And then there's the unbelievable chemistry and the impossible hotness. :)

That promo still of the two of them is wonderful. Clark looks so sad and tender, and I love the way she's snuggled into his chest.

And I second the wish that Tom and Sarah work together again!

I feel very much the same way you do about Alicia. I mean, lets look at her background. She had parents that were scared of her, so they locked her in a lead room. Which, of course, ruined that relationship (though she moved back in with them, so I guess they were working on repairing it).

I think she really loved Clark, but just didn't have a clue on to express that in a healthy way, and then she flipped when she thought he was going to reject her.

Look, there's no denying that Alicia did some really messed up shit. But there's also no denying that she made for a truly compelling character.

I wonder what a Lex/Alicia meeting would've been like? My guess? I think Alicia would've picked up on "the vibe" right away, and seen Lex as competition for Clark's affections. And what a storyline that would've made.

Great choices! I loved Alicia and her death is just devastating. I can't get over Martha's reaction in Unsafe. My fanwank is that the red K explanation became conflated in her mind with Exile and she finally felt safe enough to let out some of her emotions on that. Because although she didn't blame him for the baby's death, his running away had to hurt her badly. I'm betting Jonathan never told her about his role in that.

I hate that they just moved on from her death like it was nothing. I never blamed Clark for that. Thats a writers error. She should've been a far more important character in S4 for much longer.

One thing about the Martha situation that makes me chuckle...even after that browbeating by his mother, Clark kept on seeing Alicia. Take that Mom!
