TV Round-UP

My regular TV schedule was a bit messed up this week, as I was away for 2 days, and was watching things randomly that I had DVR'ed.  Or, in the case of Glee, things I downloaded from iTunes, because Cablevision and Fox were being idiots.  And I still haven't seen last weeks ep of The Event, because I can't seem to work up the desire to watch it.  I suspect thats a very bad sign.  And I'm really, really bummed that I seem to have scheduled something wrong, thus missing an episode of Boardwalk Empire *sigh*

I have something to admit.  I've seen Rocky Horror Picture Show more then once.  I even went to one of those midnight showings, where people dress up, and throw things, and shout stuff out.  It was fun, but I sort of don't get the whole fascination with this movie.  Having said that, I really enjoyed Glee's take on it for the most part.  The real stand-out's to me was John Stamos' AMAZING solo, Amber Riley totally nailing "I'm Just a Sweet Tranvestite", and the group take on "Time Warp" (I was SO thrilled that Chris Colfer and Dianna Agron got huge parts of this song, and they were terrific).  And hey, the episode was sort of Rachel-lite, so how can that be a bad thing?  I also got a huge kick out of Sue this week.  And I am really digging Sam.  I can't wait until Puck comes back, because I'm betting that Puck is going to be less then thrilled with the budding romance between Sam and Quinn.

On the downside, Will was a totally dickhead.  I just totally don't buy his "love" for Emma.  His ego is just bruised that she found someone else to make her happy.  He's a tool this season.

The Walking Dead

Did anyone else see this?  If you didn't, and you dig horror stuff, then WATCH THIS!  I love Zombies.  I don't know what it is about rotting, brain-eating zombies, but  I dig it.  And this show did an amazing take on zombies, while still creating a believable and compelling human story.  I'm a bit worried that the most compelling character in the first hour is not a regular, but rather a guest star (Lenny James).  And please no more horse killings.  But, outside of that, I'm all in!  Its first season only consists of 6 episodes, so this is going to go fast.  Can't wait.  BRAINS!!!

Sons of Anarchy

OK, I'm going to say it...I'm totally not into this Irish storyline.  I mean, I've tried and I've tried.  But I just can't force myself to care.  Maybe its because I've never felt some big attachment to Jax's spawn.  Or maybe its because I can't understand what half the characters are saying with this heavy accents.  Or maybe its because Titus Welliver, as actor I adore, has a faux Irish accent that makes him sound like the Lucky Charms elf.  Or maybe its because I'm finding Gemma just really had to take at the moment.  Or maybe it because the show seems to think that I should feel some investment in characters that were just introduced out of the blue.  Maybe its a combination of all that, but I officially don't much care anymore.  When I find myself more interested in what Tara is doing then anyone else, I know I'm struggling with the show.  On the good side, I continue to really, really like Lyla.  And Tig is always entertaining.

Its a decent show.  There's not much more to say about it.   I really did like that they took Annie out of commission this week, and yet showed that the team was every bit as capable without her.   I was a bit disappointed that they brought in Eddie Cibrian as a love interest for Annie, mostly because everytime I see Eddie Cibrian, I just think "Oh, look, its the douchebag that cheated on his wife with that slutbag Leann Rimes".  Too judgey?  On the flipside, Cole Hauser?  Marry me!  For reals.

Project Runway

Gretchen is the winner??!!  Are you shitting me??!!  Nina and Michael are fucking high.  Since when is this show about the designer thats most likely to be marketable at Walmart?  This was just straight up BS.  And the judging was so contradictory, I couldn't even keep straight what they wanted week to week.  I'm going to have to think long and hard before I watch another season after this travesty.

I am finding new ruthless Sam to be crazy hot.  Hot like the sun, Hot!  In fact, I'm digging Sam so much, I'm finding myself having little paitence for Dean.  Bobby continues to completely rock.  As does Castiel, when he's on, which is not very often.  I'm really interested to see where this storyline goes.  The way last weeks episode ended was downright uncomfortable.

And I think I'm probably the only person I know watching Boardwalk Empire, so I won't bother going into that.  Except to say that I think Steve Buscemi owns the Emmy next year.

I liked Will last season, but this season? Dick! Why would Emma ever choose him over Carl? I know I wouldn't.

I think the Gemma stuff is a bit too much. I never felt this before, but its beginning to feel a bit like a vanity project that a husband is writing for his wife.

Dean was a little crazy there in the last season. And Jared Padalecki is just doing an amazing job with what he's playing. The incredible way he lied to the Veritas goddess (Zatanna!!), but was trying to act like he wasn't lying, but you could tell he totally was. That was masterful. You go Jared!

So, did you like Harvest? Inquiring minds want to know ;)

WORD! Although I thought her collection was not as bad as Andy's (I really hate his headpieces), to pick her boring, ugly-ass crap over Mondo's was a load of bullshit. When Jessica Simpson is the voice of reason in the room, you know there's something wrong.

I wasn't a huge fan of Andy's, but I think I even liked his final show better then Gretchen's. I really feel like Michael C. should've made the final, and having seen his runway show, I'm not so sure he wouldn't have deserved to win.

Not that deserving it seems to have meant anything, because Mondo was clearly more deserving then Gretchen.

And I thought Michael Kors treated Jessica Simpson shamefully. If I were, I'd have told Kors to kiss my wide southern ass if I was her.

For project runway...I don't really understand gretchen as the winner, but I can understand why they had a hard time picking Mondo and some of the reasons that they didn't. I mean...it was kind of a mini me version of seth aarons winning collection last year. They have to spice it up and have different kinds of designers win...and waaaay to many of them have been men who are quirky, a little dark with splashes of color, when it comes to the show...it is kind of done.

You have a good point, and I don't disagree. But I'm wondering if that should be the point of the show. I mean, if the best designer each year tends to be similar to the best designer of a previous year, shouldn't he still win?

Having seen all the collections of the 10 designers to show at Fashion Week (the rest being decoys), I really think Michael C had the best collection. He brought glamour and sophistication to the runway, and I'm not sure anyone else really did.

Yes, I think if it was all about trueness to competition the best designer should win no matter what...but it is a TV show so that often isn't what happens.
I really liked Michael Cs stuff too, I thought he should have gone to Fashion Week rather than Andy who was just a huuuuuge disapointment in the end in my opinion.

Why are the "stars" of Glee so damned unlikeable? They all suck. And the supporting characters are so, so much more entertaining. I just heard about the Glee Christmas episode, and honestly, it sounds like Rachel sings about a dozen songs. And she's Jewish on the show! Whats up with that? Are their solos for Kurt, or Tina, or Santana, or Quinn, or Sam, or Puck....? The answer is No. Rachel? A dozen songs. WTF?

I want Eddie Cibrian and Leann Rimes to fall into a vat of fire ants. Too much? Its not so much that they are cheating skanks. Its that they flaunt it, then give interviews where they whine about people juding them. Then, how about shutting the fuck up about being cheating scumbags?

I've loved Cole Hauser forever. He's just...*sigh*

I had such a hard time watching Will on Glee. He was creepy and inappropriate and just plain wrong. So different from last season, when he actually had integrity! That said, I loved the musical numbers, especially Time Warp (Dianna and Chris were awesome), and I just plain adore John Stamos. The actor and the character are both classy guys.

I don't really get Rocky Horror either. I've seen it a couple of times and enjoyed it, but my sister was totally into it in high school, and would go to the midnight showing every week with her newspapers and toast. :)

I taped The Walking Dead because ALL the critics raved about it, but so far I've been afraid to watch it. I'm such a wuss when it comes to anything scary or graphic.

Now that we know what is up with Sam, things are getting very interesting. And I know what you mean about the hotness! But Jensen still makes me forget to breathe, he's soooo pretty. Bobby was freaking hilarious this week. And I love how Jim Beaver keeps popping up on other shows I watch. He was on The Mentalist a couple of weeks ago.

Watching Dean hit Sam over and over was awful. And it was rather chilling to realize it won't make Sam feel sad, or angry, or anything else.

I think one of the problems with Will is that they are WAY over playing his grand love for Emma, which, ya know, isn't that believable to me. It doesn't even feel like its about her, but rather all about his ego. Its beyond creepy.

I want to smich Dianna and Chris. I love them both.

And where the hell is Puck?

The Walking Dead is spooky, but I think you can watch it. There isn't a lot of cliched horror movie stuff, like people jumping out of closets and such.

I wasn't a huge fan of the Dean and Lisa thing, so I think it impacted on Dean's hotness to me. And Jared has that insane body! But I probably want to marry Jim Beaver the most, because he seems like a man that could keep your interested and entertained forever.

Good point about Sam. He'll just feel sore. Nothing else. Its a great twist.

Rocky Horror is fun, but it's fun the way any dumb party game can be fun when everyone is laughing hard and trying to win.

I don't know what happened to Will/Emma but it went from being sweet to just... not. It seems like will just misses Emma's attention (fawning) more than anything else. And the way Carl is helping Emma to get over her complexes without even trying! I don't know how Will is going to beat that.

I'm loving Mercedes more and more each episode. I'm kind of meh on Rachel and Finn.

I'm way behind and I don't know that I have the heart to catch up now that Leann Rhimes guy is joining the cast. We'll see.

The Walking Dead
I saw a review of that in a magazine recently. It sounds amazing but... I'm such a scardy cat.

Still way behind but I might catch up eventually because of my undying love for Gemma. I assumed all the Irish characters were from a past season or something. Weird.

Behind on this too but I did see that evil smile Sam gave Dean in the vampire episode. Creepy Sam is making me love Dean more!

I was OK with the way they used Rachel/Finn in this ep (even though they continue to write Finn as borderline moronic). Mostly because even though they grabbed the leads in the play, they weren't the main characers in the ep. What a nice break!

The nice thing about Chase is that you can really miss a week, and you haven't missed much. LOL

I don't know that I'd recommend Walking Dead for the faint of heart. Its pretty grim.

I'm the opposite in that Creepy Sam is making me love Sam more. LOL

Skipped the SoA bit, because I've just only got done with S2 so far. I preferred S1 I think, but I'm going to stick around and catch up on S3 too.

I've got The Event lined up, but I'm not sure if I want to watch.

And ooh, I want to watch The Walking Dead. Zombies!

Y'know how increasingly down and out I've been on SPN ever since the whole angels, devil, God arc of S4 onwards, right? I really wanted to recover from that this season but I still haven't found my SPN lovin groove back, I'm afraid. Bobby and Cas are great, but I'm not feeling the rest.
Nov. 4th, 2010 04:29 pm (UTC)
I liked S3 of SoA. It might be my favorite.

I can't really recommend The Event. If you haven't started, I'm not sure I'd bother.

I understand how you feel about SPN. To be honest, the constant brother conflict can get a little tedious.

Still haven't seen The Walking Dead. *punches something*

I never cared for Will or more importantly Will/Emma..he always wanted Emma to be all about him while he did whatever he wanted.
Nov. 6th, 2010 03:01 pm (UTC)
I used to think Will and Emma were cute, but now, I don't want her anywhere near him. He's a douche, and Carl is so much cooler.

I'm sure you'll get a chance to see Walking Dead soon.
