Changing Themes

I'm feeling the need to change my lj theme.  Change is good, right?   So, I'm asking for any feedback to any change I make.  If anyone finds the colors offputting, or finds the text difficult to read, or the conversations hard to follow (because my SV entries tend to get lots of replies, for which I am very happy!), please speak up.

Right now, I'm trying this theme out, but I'm not in love with it.

And really, say whatever you want.  I'm open to any and all comments.

ETA:  Whoops, already changed it again.  The little robots amuse me.

It's nice but doesn't exactly rock my world. Don't you want a pretty custom banner????

I'd love one. But I'm not very savvy with this stuff, so you'd have to help me a lot when it came to setting it up.

LOL, I see you've changed things up again. I like it!

For custom headers, the easy way is to go with a layout that belongs to a "family" that allows them to be added through the options menu. The layouts that support custom headers are 3 column, quite lickable and nebula - unfortunately not the most interesting options I've seen.

If you choose a different base layout, then it gets a little more complicated but it shouldn't be too bad. Here's the LJ "how to" overview. http://community.livejournal.com/s2howto/51499.html

The final option is to go whole hog on custom style sheets so you can control everything. snubbly has some fun base templates which I used as the starting place for my current design. Then its just a matter of changing the file name for the header image and perhaps tweaking colours and font sizes or whatever else floats your boat.

Thanks! I will study that when I get home.

It's really easy to read, which I for one appreciate. Some people's styles kill me. >.> It is a little dull though. :\ Maybe a banner or something?

It is dull. I felt the same way. But I really wanted to avoid any set-up that was very dark, because reading those hurts my eyes.

A banner might work. :)

Hmm. It doesn't do anything for me, and clearly, you should be designing your journal with my tastes in mind!

Do you have a paid account? I can suggest a few, but I need to know if you can access them or not.

Well, I'm asking for suggestions here, so yes, your tastes are important.

I do have a paid account.

H'okay, so, under Illustrated, I think the Art Deco ones are kind of nifty and Playful Cherry Blossom. They're all easy to read. I tend to stick to the Expressive ones myself for that reason.

Thanks! I will check them out.

Change is good! I change my layout every month! :)

The colors are vibrant and the text easy to read. However, I am one of those rare females who don't care about shoes, so the theme is meh. ;)

*GASP* Not care about shoes??

Give me a second to catch my breath *goes to pet designer shoe collection*

Easy to read was one of the most important factors. But I don't want anything too boring either. :\

I'm not a shoe girl either. ^5

Are you people trying to freaking kill me?

Next thing you'll tell me is that you aren't into handbags.

its cute and colors are easy on the eyes. But as others said above, custom TW banner? (I'd make one for yah :))

Easy on the eyes is important to me. I want my journal to be very reader friendly.

I'd love a TW banner, but I'm a total spaz when it comes to lj stuff, so I'd need lots of help in applying it.

They are cute, and I know its reader friendly, but I'm not sure about the grey :/

I liked the shoe....but the important thing is you like your format so if the little robots amuse you then keep it
:D

Bit light isn't it though hun?

It is. The robots are so cute, but the grey is sort of blah. So, this might not be a keeper.

Cute robot!

I know what you mean about changing themes. My new theme is leaving me a little cold but... It'll do until winter fully sets in.

There are some cute winter/holiday themes out there, but I wasn't quite in the mood for those yet. Maybe I'll change it again in a month.

This is cute and easy to read. I'm not too fond of the grey though.

I'd love to have a TW header too. A friend made one for me months ago but, even though I tried, I was never able to put it up. :(

The grey is the big issue for me too. Its so washed out.

I'm afraid that I'd struggle with a banner as well. But I'm going to read the link I was provided and see what I can figure out.

Part of me would love a TW banner, but the other part of me wonders if I should leave my journal more neutral. Hmmm.

Not used to the all-grey theme, but the robot is adorable. :)

The grey is a problem. I want to find something that has a little color, but not too much color. Too much color makes it hard to read. At least for me.

Same here. It's nice to have a bright colorful theme, but some are a lil too garish. Not very easy on the eyes, which is important if you spend a lot of time reading stuff on the net!

He's adorable. I just wish he was purple, or sparkled, or something.

Well, to be honest, it´s not really an improvement... :) I trust your experimenting will bring something better sooner or later. :)
