The First Big Smallville Spoiler

And wow, color me shocked.
(I'm inserting spaces since I don't know how to change the name of the link, even when a friend kindly sent me the instructions.  So, if you are NO spoilers, then don't look below)

Just a warning to all, there are likely to be spoilers discussed in replies.

Oh, and BTW, does anyone need a Dreamwidth invite code?

You might want to fix the link since the spoiler is actually in the text of link.

I figured that whats in the text is very vague, and doesn't discuss context, so its not too big a deal?

Ugh, so I have to try and figure out how to change the link? Oh Noes, my computer spaz is panicking. LOL

I think its a cool choice. I'd rather see him around for a few eps rather then this lame sounding "Mason" character.

Hmmm Derek Reese as Metallo? consider me hooked, though it is very ironic :D

BAG is sort of cool these days. And while not a big star, he's not a nobody either. I'm intrigued.

That's quite a good casting hook. I wonder if plans have changed now that SW is not returning?

Maybe SW not coming back freed up some money for casting. I like the choice.

Colour me impressed and excited. I don't know jack about Metallo, but BAG really impressed me in T: SCC.

...I can't believe I'm excited about David from 90210 being on SV.

Yeah, but David got cool. BAG grew up pretty nicely.

I think its a great choice, and should get them a little publicity. But I'd like him around for more then 2 eps.

I didn't actually see him on TSCC except for youtube clips, but he was good. I actually liked him on that terrible Freddie Prinze Jr sitcom that lasted for about a month.

And I think you're probably showing me how to do the link stuff, but I still don't get it :( I'm a moron.

AIEEEE! That is awesome news!! I never thought much of him before, but he impressed the hell out of me in T:SCC, and he gave a couple of fantastic podcast interviews with the SHoE guys (for their other podcasts). He is a complete fanboy/comics geek, a la Phil Morris. I couldn't be more thrilled.

I actually hoped in my secret heart of hearts that they would get him to play Mason when I heard he turned down OTH, but I knew they couldn't afford him, and that he has better things to do than Smallville. But a guest spot is wonderful!

Okay, Val, I have at least one thing to be excited about for S9 now. :D

I would imagine if he's a fanboy/comics geek, then the role must've had some appeal to him. How often does one get the chance to play a known Superman villian?

I really hope they rethink the Mason thing. A few eps of BAG as Metallo, coupled with some Intergang stuff works far better for me.

I'm intrigued, and I totally approve fo the casting, but I don't want to get excited yet.

This makes me happy =D
I like Brian Austin Green and I love the idea of Metallo in SV-verse.
Although this does mean that Clark's gonna get the ever living shit beat out of him. Again. :/

Well, thats sort of par for the course with Clark. At least if its a comics villian, its not so bad.

I think the guy as talent and presence. And I think he'll fit in nicely on SV.

Ideally, I'd love BAG as Metallo for, like, 7 eps. Using last season as a barometer, guest villians are like fish and houseguests....they start to stink when they're around for too long.

I think BAG and Megan might be on a break.

Wow Valerie this is interesting news and thanks for sharing. I know some folks (like me) remember him from his days on 90210 but I think they are banking on his recent Terminator TV fame and its a great casting cue to publicize the shows new day.

Sounds like he'll be in the Clark and Lois storyline? or...maybe since Lois is MIA Tess hires a new reporter? Either way this sounds way more interesting then the Mason/Zod stuff. Yikes.

Hope your cat is doing better...

Well, ya know, he's not a big star, but he does create some interest and buzz, and that are 2 things the show really needs right now. So, its a good thing.

I don't even want to make a guess on who he'll be used yet, and with whom.

Duncan is staying at the kitty hospital for the time being, so they can find out exactly what the problem is and make him all better.

I have only watched one episode of T:SCC and I can't remember the few episodes I ever watched of 90210 so I don't really know who this guy is. His face seems familiar but I don't remember where I might have seen him. But Metallo is a good villain (albeit one that hurts Clark terribly :( ) and I hope they do a good job with him in SV, though I don't trust those writers/producers. My point? I can't be excited about this just yet but I do hope this is really a good thing for SV and, most importantly, something that helps with the progression of Clark's story.

I agree that this sounds better than that Mason character that hold no appeal to me whatsoever. lol

I know what you mean. The casting is good, but that doesn't mean that the writing for the character will be good. So, its best to wait and see.

The Mason character? *gags* Sounds like a loser.

I did some reading on Metallo last night, and I like the choice of villian. He sounds really interesting. So, casting is good, character could be good. Now its up to the writing...

Uh oh!

Ok, so here's the thing. I'm one of the few people on my flist that is actively looking forward to Season 9, right? And that's mainly because I'm one of the few people that didn't denounce Season 8 in the second half. Sorry, but I absolutely still claim Season 8 as my favorite season ever.

That being said, the article hasn't even pulled up yet on my brower, but I saw the header and I gasped so loudly with glee that I am even MORE excited for Season 9. So so so excited. This is going to be a LONG LONG summer. Fortunately I have things to keep me occupied like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe, the Green Lantern Animated Movie, and my trip to Chicago for the Comic Con.

OMG I'm so excited for the Fall!

No need to apologize for liking S8. There's a lot to love about it. If the first half had been as good as the second half, I would be talking it up bigtime myself.

Its fun that this spoiler seems to have made so many people excited. I think the fandom needed some kind of jolt like that.
