In Memorial

Very sad day in my house. :(

Boo, 1995-05/07/09

Boo, or Boo-bear as we most often called him, was the first cat I ever had that played fetch.  He loved to talk and complain.  He had beautiful, long, silky fur that parted down the middle of his back, and a long tail that was usually held straight up.  But he hated being groomed.  He wasn't much of a lap cat, but occasionally he changed his mind, and then he'd just flop in your lap, no matter what you were doing, and expect to be cuddled.  He was sweet, and affectionate and a wonderful member of the family.

Winter, 1995-05/07/09

Winter was the shyest of my cats, unless you invaded his domain (my bedroom), then he was the boss.  He overcame some nervousness in his younger years, and eventually became a pretty confident guy.  He was my cat in every way, happiest when he could just sit in a room with me and watch what I was doing.  He slept on my bed at night nearly every single day for more years then I can remember.  His favorite toy was a pen, preferably one you were trying to write with, or an old beat up catnip mouse that he would tussle with for a few minutes, then ignore for a week.  He was sensitive and gentle, and an amazing friend.

R.I.P. my pretty fur babies.  You will be missed more then I can express.

I'm so sorry that you lost both of your beloved cats on the same day. Were they litter mates?

And not to be intrusive, but was it a natural disaster or something that would make them both go at the same time? It's so sad.

Boo was diagnosed with chronic lung disease about a year ago. We did everything we could, but he was losing his battle, and we knew we had to let him go. Winter had an upset stomach, and we took him to the vet and he was diagnosed with lymphoma. We decided it was best to let them go together. They were half brothers.

Honey, I'm so sorry. Hard enough to lose one member of the family, but two together is just a terrible loss.

They are gorgeous. You gave them wonderful long lives and the best gift of all: a loving home.

Again, I'm so sorry. *HUGS*

Oh Val, I don't even know what to say. I'm so sorry about your babies. I know there's probably nothing I can say to make you feel better, but if there's anything I can do, please let me know. I'm thinking about you and sending good thoughts your way. *Hugs You Tight*

Oh, Val. I am so, so sorry to hear this. From whatever I knew from you of these beautiful animals - I understand how much they meant to you. I wish I could offer you words of comfort that aren't totally useless and that might actually help, but really, I think it's going to take its time, as is the case with these things.

Oh, Valerie, I'm so sorry! I was gone on a business trip, and am just now catching up with LJ. I know there are no words that can make your pain go away, but please know that you are in my thoughts, and how very sorry I am for your loss. *hugs* I hope you can take some comfort in your happy memories, and in knowing that you gave them a life full of love and the very best of care. Thanks for sharing your fur babies with us; this post is a wonderful tribute to how special they were.

I'm a lurker but just wanted to say I'm so sorry. I lost a beloved cat suddenly last year and I was devastated.

This passage from a book helped give me a little comfort and maybe it will for you too:

"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings or walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given."

Thank you. That was beautiful.
