Smallville Hopes

Needless to say that anyone that reads my lj knows I've been a bit down on Smallville lately.  :(  But like many of you out there, I'll continue to tune into it.  Once I get started with a show, I have a hard time not riding it out to its conclusion.  If I'm going to jump ship, it would usually be in the 1st or 2nd season.  If I go past that?  I'm likely to hang on in some fashion.

Besides, this show stars Tom Welling, and he's my TV boyfriend, so I'm sort of stuck...

Anyway, I thought I'd throw this question out to the peanut gallery...is there a SV spoiler thats got you anticipating an episode?  Anything you've heard, or expect to come to pass, that has you excited?

I'm not completely gloom and doom, so even I have one.
Type your cut contents here.

I'm actually looking forward to Pete's return.  Pete is a character I didn't think much of when he was on the show.  Occasionally he was funny, and oftentimes he seemed like a reality check.   But he was very much underused and underdeveloped.  But in retrospect, I find myself appreciating Pete in ways that I didn't originally.  His dislike towards Lex right off the bat actually felt very real, and very understandable.  He was consistant in that way.  I don't know if I can really say that for any other character in regards to Lex.  The way his inferiority complex would crop up also felt very organic.  One of my favorite scenes in S3 comes in Truth when Pete's feelings for Chloe are revealed, and Clark wants to know why Pete never told him how he felt about Chloe.  That was a true, honest moment between Clark and Pete, and it was a little sad.  It was one of those times that the burden of being a best friend of Clark Kent was made clear, but without anything overtly dramatic about it.   Sometimes the small scenes are the most poignant.

I also felt that Pete's leaving didn't provide proper closure.  It could have, if the show had allowed other characters to reference him during appropriate times.  But as is often the case with SV, out of sight is out of mind, and so Pete's leaving always felt like this door that didn't quite get slammed shut.

So, I am looking forward to Hero.  This is a part of Clark's story that is being addressed that I'm pleased about.  I'm hoping that the episode doesn't make the mistake that SO MANY damned SV episodes are making lately, which is allowing the focus to move off of Clark and go elsewhere.  Of course I'd like to see Pete and Chloe also reunite, and I'm looking forward to the Pete and Lex scenes.  But the meat of the episode should be Clark and Pete, and some sort of resolution to their friendship.  Clark's first friendship.

So, anyone else have something they are particularly looking forward to?  And why?

I agree. Pete's return is pretty much the ONLY spoiler I care much about. I always liked Pete. I just hope they don't mess him up and make him a jerk somehow:-P.

I hope so too. I don't mind a little friction. I get the sense that there's a lot unsaid. But Pete was always, fundamentally, a decent person. I hope he stays that way.

And I hope when he leaves this time, its with a friendly, warm hug. Not one with tears and regret.

I'm actually looking forward to probably parts of every episode left. The key word there being "parts."

I'm looking forward to Bizarro and Brainiac and to see what they're doing with Dax-Ur. I'm looking forward to Ollie (yes, I liked him) returning and despite the horrid look of Dinah, I'm surious to see how they ultimately deal with her, too. Fracture has me curious if only because of the lack of spoilers. Pete's return has my hopes up for Hero and even though we've got a lack of Clark in Traveler, there's still a teeny tiny part of me that will watch in the hopes that it'll all work out okay in the end. And then Veritas, well, yeah. They've got me on the cliffhanger and that it'll be "Clark heavy."

Thats the spirit! :)

I am looking forward to Brainiac, if only because I thought James Marsters did a great job. But the whole Dax-Ur thing is completely lost on me. Maybe its a comics thing?

It will be interesting to see if Veritas is really so "Clark heavy", because from everything we've heard, it really sounds awfully Luthor heavy. I'm not quite sure how both of those things can co-exist in one episode.

I do try. :)

Dax-Ur is an original Smallville thing, actually. Which is why I'm curious, especially since it appears they're not going the gold K vs immortality route.

Veritas I'm expecting to be very much about the Luthor-Clark connection, very likely with Clark finding out about the Swann Super Team and Lionel's involvement, and possibly questioning Lionel's true intentions.

I hope you're right about Veritas. With spoilers about Chloe, Lex and Lois all having Lionel scenes, I got the idea that maybe a Clark/Lionel confrontation wasn't coming, since you'd think that would be more spoiler-worthy then the other confrontations.

I'm not looking forward to anything. I hate the Bizarro storyline and I don't trust the writers anymore. I'm not eagerly awaiting new episodes like I used to do before. How sad is that! :(

(Sorry if I'm bringing you down. My expectations are lower than ever but maybe I should keep that to myself. Most of the time I don't even comment because I don't want to ruin other people's enjoyment)

I really *wish* I could be looking forward to *anything* other than seeing Tom.

I'm glad that at least you are happy about one of the spoilers. :)

You aren't bringing me down Carol. I know exactly how you feel. I remember when I used to be looking forward to half a dozen things. Its very depressing that its come down to "Tom=Pretty!" and Pete Ross. I just believe that something is terribly, terribly wrong with a show when you have to search so hard for something to look forward to in regards to the main character. That just seems so nuts to me.

And to compound that, what the hell is wrong with the SV hairdressers, and what are they doing to Tom's hair? Why must they even mess with The Pretty?

Exactly! it doesn't make sense!

Yes, they won't even leave what is already perfect alone! Another thing to be frustrated about. It's a conspiracy!

That would be a nice suprise, I think. Clois interaction has certainly been thin on the ground this season, and Siren does seem to contain the best scenario for a meaningful Clois scene.

To be honest though, I'm not sure why they are having Lois find out about Oliver. For me, there are some things I wish they would just leave for a future Clois, somewhere. I don't need every single aspect of their future relationship foreshadowed with other people.

I know my opinion on this is a bit controversial, but I really feel like when you foreshadow too many things about Clark's life with other characters, you make him that much less special, less unique. If nothing comes to his life on his own, or out of his own thoughts or desires, then what is left for Clark? If he doesn't get to experiance some things for the first time with his one true love, then how extraordinary is this love?

I think its a piss poor way to foreshadow Clark's future life and status.

There better be a lot of Clark in that episode. I really think that Pete's return would be interesting, especially for Clark. I mean, Pete leaving was basically the reason that Clark is afraid to share his secret with anyone afterwards.

They really should get closure ... his return SHOULD be significant to Clark and I hope that SV doesn't botch it up.

You are absolutely right!! Hero better be heavy on the Clark. And I'm not just talking screentime, but really allow him to voice some of her inner feelings about Pete, and how that whole friendship went down. Because we really have no clue. Pete left, Clark decided not to tell Lana, and that was the end of it.

I'm pretty down on SV these days and don't like it as much as I used to. The only reason I'm watching is for Lois and because I addicted and I need to know how it ends. My cousin's like you sound like a drug addict lol, as I need to watch it but I really don't want to. Anyways yeah I'm looking forward to Pete's return and also eps of Siren and Fracture. Since in Siren we get Ollie back yay I love him and for Fracture we have Lois and Kara.
