For the last round of Favorite Clark Scenes With.... I could only come up with 3 more characters. I almost added in Zod, but then I would've felt like I needed to add Davis too, and well, I just decided to leave them both off.

So, this round goes to Kara, Oliver Queen, and Tess Mercer.

ETA:  Thanks to Wingster, who suggested we add Jimmy to this round.  So, that makes 4!!

What is your favorite Clark scene with those 3 characters. I already have mine picked out, but I need to get to work on my visual aids. :)

I choose for them the last scene from Bloodline.  And considering what they did with Kara in S10, I really wish this had been Clark and Kara's last scene together, because it was really perfect.  The 2 were warm and loving with each other.  And Kara's reasons for leaving made sense.  I liked that she showed Clark her necklace with the family crest as a way of expressing how he was in her heart.  I wish this was the way I could remember the relationship between these 2 characters.

As anyone that reads my journal already knows, I'm not a big fan of Oliver Queen.  And I don't like how the "friendship" between Clark and Oliver has been written.  I could probably count on one hand the number of scenes between the two that I really liked.  I was really, really tempted to use their scene in the Finale ep, where Clark is able to help Oliver defeat the darkness and overcome it.  Especially since I was totally not expecting that.  But, instead, I choose a scene from Kandor.  There are a few reasons I choose this scene.  The biggest being that Oliver is trying to be a real, supportive friend here, and frankly, I think those moments are rare.  No snarkiness, no sniping.  He knows Clark is struggling with what just happened, and he's trying to be there to tell him that he's OK.  And the other reason I choose this scene was because I like how Clark was with Oliver.  This episode comes right on the heels of Oliver attempting to get back together with Lois, knowing full well that Lois and Clark have feelings for each other.  Clark is, understandably, a little testy with Oliver.  And even in this scene, the way Tom played it hinted at a bit of skepticism at Oliver's support.  I've always chosen to see that line from Oliver about having Clark's back as purposely ironic.

Oh, there are any number of Clark and Tess scenes I could have chosen.  The fact is that I very much enjoy Tom and Cassidy when they work together.  And while their scenes together might not be numerous, a great many of them work for me.  But, in the end, I think I choose the scene that is very hard to deny as the best Cless scene there is.  The scene at the end of Luthor when Clark comes to see Tess in the mansion.  From the beginning of S10, we had seen Clark and Tess be friendly.  But this is the scene where I thought we really saw the level of friendship that had developed between them.  Its quite an intimate scene.  Under different circumstances, it could've even been considered romantic.  But, we know it wasn't.  It was Clark being a really, really good, supportive friend to Tess, even though he honestly had a few good reasons to be angry with her.  Instead, he decided to try and understand why she did what she did, and where she was coming from, and he offered her a level of emotional support I'm not sure Tess had ever had from anyone else.

There are a few good Clark and Jimmy scenes.  I almost went with the scene in Identity when Jimmy shows up at the farm, and figures out that Clark = The Red Blue Blur, because thats actually a really good scene for Jimmy.  He might just be the only person that figured Clark's secret out all on his own, without a visual aid.  And I do like their last scene in Doomsday very much, because Jimmy was so pleased that Clark was telling him the truth, and letting him into the secret keeping club.  Its a shame he didn't get to be part of it longer.  But, in my heart of hearts, I knew what scene I really wanted to use.  And thats because its a scene that never fails to make me laugh.  And Aaron and Tom are so wonderful in it.  And it also introduced me to a new gesture I previously knew nothing about that.  So, my choice is from Subterranean, and we'll just call it "Ring That Bell"

Hi Val, it's Maria. I love reading everyone thoughts on their favorite scenes. There are too many Clex scenes that I love. I've been putting a lot of thought into these so I'll eventually put my two cents in. BTW, that scene between Clark/Oliver is from Kandor, not Pandora.:D That happens to be my favorite scene between those two.

Hey Maria :)

And thanks. Kandor, of course. I corrected it. Dont know how I got those 2 mixed up.

I look forward to reading your 2 cents.

For Clark & Kara, Bloodline is also my choice - they really feel like family there. It's a pity S10 didn't give them a single good scene together.

For Clark & Oliver, I like their three scenes in Kandor - especially Oliver calling Jor El "the dude in your ice crystal palace thingie" and this to Clark at the end "I don't think anyone wears that super shield quite like you." It's a rare episode that writes Oliver-as-sidekick perfectly.

For Tess, either the first scene with Clark Luthor or their duel of wits over Lex's diary in Turbulence. (Love Clark being so sly!) The scene you chose is also lovely, with Lex's presence very strong too.

I don't know I'll ever be over the Kara stuff in S10.

Kandor is a rare episode where Oliver's friendship feels real. His affection for Clark seems real. And honestly, most of the time to me? It doesn't.

I was really, really tempted to use the Clark and Tess stuff from Turbulence, because I LOVE the Cless in that episode. The whole cat and mouse game they are playing with each other is so entertaining, and more then a little sexy. I didn't want to choose any of the Tess/Clark Luthor stuff because thats, technially, not our Clark. But its sure a good example of how much chemistry Tom and Cassidy can generate.

No love for the Clark/Oliver scene at the barn in Ambush? Lol. I'll go with their short scene at the engagement party in Icarus where Clark asked him to be his best man.

Agreed about Clark and Kara.

Clark and Jimmy didn't have many good scenes because for a long while Jimmy was acting all jealous about Clark and Chloe. I'd give it to their final scene in Doomsday. Very well acted by both Tom and Aaron I should add.

As for Clark and Tess, either the jet stuff in Turbulence or the deleted scene in Plastique. The Luthor scene obviously is a powerful one as well, but I can't say I feel the same about it anymore.

Actually, that was a decent choice of Clark and Oliver scene, but I have to give it a few points off for Oliver bitching about Tess. Of course, Clark gets a few points for defending her and her contributions.

That Clark and Jimmy scene is also one of my favorites. I think I've narrowed down my choices to 2, and I'll post one tonight.

Why can't you feel the same way about the Cless scene in Luthor? The deleted scene from Plastique is really flirty. I also like the early Cless scene where she tells him he was on her "to do" list. Heh!

I also like the early Cless scene where she tells him he was on her "to do" list. Heh!

:D Awesome line. Safe to say that their scenes were never dull or lacking chemistry. Their very first scene where he saves her is another one of my faves.

The Luthor scene has been partially ruined for me, due to what happened in Finale. The climax of the mansion scene was Clark telling Tess that they would face Lex together and that she wasn't alone anymore. And sadly, that's exactly what happened in Finale when Lex returned. Not blaming Clark for this. He had his hands full as much as anyone in Finale. At least he searched for her while others (like Oliver) didn't even notice she was missing. But I can't help but feel that Clark's pledge in Luthor eventualy was for nothing.

Awww Costas, I understand where you are coming from. I really hated that Tess didn't get any scenes with Clark in the Finale. :(

I love your choices, especially the Clark/Kara one. I'd absolutely have picked the exact same one. It's such a beautiful moment - sincere and genuine, where you really believe how important these two are to each other as their only surviving family.

I love the way you describe the Clark/Oliver scene from 'Kandor.' That line, though. Ugh! Seriously, writers?!

I think 'Odyssey' is another good Clark/Oliver ep. And the scene one the plane is especially great. It's a dynamic I really wish we'd seen more of. Where Oliver' snark was just that, snark. And not petty and ridiculous. And where they could open up to one another and talk, but not have things go all heavy.

Another good ep for them is 'Identity.' I love that Clark is the one dishing it out to Oliver, and rightly so. And Oliver actually listens. And the scene where they're pulling off the whole act, and their banter back and forth is genuinely fun.

Again, for Cless, I'd have picked the same.

//Instead, he decided to try and understand why she did what she did, and where she was coming from, and he offered her a level of emotional support I'm not sure Tess had ever had from anyone else.//

Exactly. It was a pivotal moment. One where their relationship truly evolved to a friendship, and not just a working dynamic.

I love their scenes from 'Turbulence.' Very strong ep for them, and the save is so cool.

For Jimmy, I'd go with their amazing scene from 'Doomsday.' A scene so full of promise for a dynamic that could've been so fun to watch develop. Alas.

Isn't it sad that there aren't that many good Clark/Kara scenes to choose from?

Odyssey is actually one of my favorite Oliver episodes, though no Clark/Oliver scene stands out for me. Maybe the 2 of them fighting each other. But its one of those rare times when Oliver comes across as a real friend who cares about Clark. Hard to think that we started off S8 with Odyssey, and ended it with Doomsday when it comes to Oliver.

I've watched Turbulence many times. The Cless scenes never get old (neither does Jimmy telling Chloe off )

Jimmy is just about the best part of Doomsday. Until he gets killed, of course. I'm torn between 2 different Clark/Jimmy scenes, but I'll make a decision and post one of them tonight.

Let's see. Kara, Oliver, Tess, and Jimmy now.

Clark/Kara: Obviously the end scene in Bloodline. I also thought that Kara's encouraging words to Clark in their last scene in Apocalypse was very good too - right before she ended up getting (whatever happened to her) put in the PZ.

Clark/Oliver: Slim pickings. Kandor stands out to me though more than any other. It's too bad that Oliver didn't follow through with having Clark's back when he knew about Chloe's shenanigans in Conspiracy. Another one that I liked was their first scene in Sacrifice. Reminded me of their scene together in Injustice, but the opposite of that.

Clark/Tess: I'll go with Turbulence. There was probably more "Cless" in that one episode than there was between them in all of Season 9 put together.

Since I've watched Luthor just once, I'm not going to go with your pick - even though I vaguely remember it being pretty good. I didn't really like the scene at the beginning with Clark's words that kind of forced that moment to happen. I'll have to watch it again sometime though.

Clark/Jimmy: I liked their scenes together in Identity, but that one scene in Doomsday was great. Probably the only good thing that happened in that whole episode and even it was taken away by that... *shakes head*

I love reading these BTW.

Well, thats the thing with the supposed Clark/Oliver friendship. It seems that Oliver reverted back to sniping jerk at the drop of a hat. I don't think I ever felt, for more then 2 eps at a time, that this guy really could be a reliable friend to Clark. Its why I just try to tell myself that Bruce Wayne will be the friend for Clark that Oliver never was.

I do agree with you that the first Clark/Tess scene in Luthor is bothersome. I'm not a fan of it either.

I agree with you that Jimmy is just about the only bright spot in Doomsday, and his scene with Clark is just about the best scene.

Its fun to read everyones opinions on these, but I think I'm a bit surprised at how most of us seem to like the same scenes.

Thanks so much for posting that. :)

Come on, how cute is this scene? Tom's expression just cracks me up. He's all like "WTF is up with this guy?" And Jimmy is just adorably oblivious.

I thought about going with a scene that had more gravitas, but I just couldn't shake this one. Its so funny. And Jimmy is just a nice guy. And Clark is a bit freaked out by him. I love it.

My favorite heart-warming moment between Clark & Kara is in Bloodline when Kara is trapped under the rubble and is telling Clark to go home (or whatever) and Clark says, "You are my home."

I do wish they had actually developed Clark & Kara's relationship more. In Season 7, they kept having Kara leave (when she got mad at Clark & then when she was dumped in Detroit) so I don't feel like Clark & Kara could ever really get into a comfortable flow.

There were some cute moments in Fierce when Clark went into parental dad mode and was trying to get Kara to cover up & then when he was teaching her with the watermelon.
I liked any kind of light-hearted banter that they were able to have throughout Kara's stay in Smallville.

I love that other Clark/Kara scene from Bloodline too. I almost went with that one.

Its really a shame how badly Kara was bungled as a character. And as good a job as LV did with it, ultimately, I think bringing her on was a bad idea. The show didn't need it.

I like the watermelon scene from Fierce, but it ends with Kara storming off, and that sort of negatively colored the scene for me.

Tess: For "our" Tess and Clark it'd be the final scene in Luthor. For the AU mix up..the other scenes in Luthor...and purple dress.

Jimmy: I'd say a tie with the scene where Jimmy discovers Clark's the blur (and how easy it was to put 2 and 2 together) and where he says he wouldn't reveal Clark's secret.

Oliver: pass

Kara: End of Bloodline.

I'm not sure "the purple dress" counts as a scene. LOL

Hmmmm, seems I've found a person that dislikes Oliver even more then I do. LOL

Just reading a few comments, and I can't believe I overlooked that Clark/Kara scene from the PZ. That was a very good one too.

I liked your pick for Clark/Jimmy. That one crossed my mind, but I passed on it because Chloe was in that scene too. That scene is hilarious though. It's one of the few times where SV is trying to be funny and I actually think that it's funny. Is it just me, or does everyone seem to not like Subterranean? Even going so far as to say that it's the worst SV episode ever! I think that Subterranean is one of the best Seasons 5-7 episodes. How many episodes during that era made Clark look good from beginning to end without any crap being dumped on him? And I liked the way that the other characters were used in that episode as well. No relationship nonsense. Clark was front and center, while the others played their supporting roles, like it should've always been. I just wanted to know if I'm seeing things wrong. LOL

And Oliver has got to be one of the most inconsistent 2-faced characters ever on the series. I really think that they struggled to write him into the show most of the time.

Yeah, I tried not to use scenes that involved a 3rd party, so that almost prevented me from using the scene from Subterranean, but when all was said and done, its really my favorite Clark/Jimmy scene, so I had to go with it.

And for the record, I like Subterranean. I mean, its got its problems. The mole-man farmer, and the Mexican immigrant who speaks perfect, accent-free English? But as you point out, its a good episode for Clark, and that carried a lot of weight for me.

Oliver, like Kara, was never a good fit for a series regular. They both were better suited to guest star stints. Once they were regulars, the writers struggled with how to use them.

Favorite Clark Scenes - Part I
Hi Val, okay I've finally made my choices. I've been rewatching Smallville (I'm currently on S07). First up, for the characters I hate (there aren't many that good choices per my POV).

Clark/Lana: The loft scene in Bride...it was an actual mature conversation and I would've loved it if it ended at that, but can't have everything.lol

Clark/Chloe: Well, I'll go with one that was mentioned. It's from Metamorphisis regarding the "outgrowing" her and Clark's response is "only vertically". That's the only time I thought she was cute.

Clark/Lois: Never liked how Lois talked to Clark. I don't care if she was teasing him or not. So there really not very many scenes that I'm crazy about. But the one that stands out for me is in Lucy where Lois opens up to Clark about the "chain of command".

Clark/Oliver: Ugh, what a wasted opportunity to have a male friend for Clark and they blew it!! Anyways, as much as I loved that scene from Kandor, I went with something from S06, Rage...where Clark goes to see Oliver and tells him that he's not even in the same league as Clark. I don't know what it is about the conversation, but that one did it for me.

Clark/Kara: I'll also go with the PZ scene from Bloodline where Clark tells Kara "you are my family".

Characters I like:

Clark/Pete: I really which that he would've stayed on the show and Chloe leave, but alas it didn't happen. Anyways, my favorite one is their last scene together in Forsaken where Pete tells Clark that he decided to go to Wichita with his mother. The fact that Pete said that he couldn't live with himself if he ever betrayed Clark spoke volumes to me at how much Clark means to Pete.

Clark/Jimmy: Not enough scenes between these two. But I thoroughly enjoyed their scene in the Kent house in Identity where Clark's trying to clear out all of his red/blue clothes. I loved how slowly Jimmy started to put the pieces together.

Clark/Lionel: Technically, this is one.lol Transference...both prison scenes between them. That is all.:D

Maria

PS: Whew!! I'll do the characters I love tomorrow.

Re: Favorite Clark Scenes - Part I
Good job Maria!

I know its hard to think of scenes with characters that really work your last nerve. I had so much trouble thinking of a Clark/Oliver one for that very reason. And even though my days of liking Chloe are well over, I do have some fond memories of scenes from earlier years when she wasn't such a bitch.

The last Clois scene in Lucy is a good one.

And yes, Transference definitely counts for Clark and Lionel. They just weren't in their own bodies when interacting, for the most part.

I'm looking forward to your choices for the characters you love :)

Clark Favorite Scenes - Part II
Hi Val, I'm back today with the characters I love.

Clark/Tess: Oh how I wish things would've been different.lol They have such amazing chemistry. Admittedly, I wasn't a big fan of Tess in S08. But I did love the cat/mouse game they played between them in Turbulence. It was pretty much the only good thing about the episode. S10 had a lot of great scenes between them. So I'll go with the end scene of Luthor...it was genuine and sweet and I loved the hand hold. It made a lot of certain shippers angry.lol

Clark/Martha: Wow...I had to put a lot of thought into these two because I do see a genuine affection between Tom and Annette that it really makes me believe that they are mother and son. There's some scenes that have already been mentioned that are amongst my favorites. The final scenes in Memoria and Vengeance...oh, how I cried like a baby. There's also a scene in Nicodemus where Jonathan is comatose and Martha recounts when she met him to Clark. I've also loved all their scenes in Hostage...the highlight of that episode for me. I went with their last scene together in Beacon where Martha tells Clark that he is the light...what a beautiful moment.

Clark/Jonathan: There's so much love and mutual respect between Tom and John...I can feel it. Where to start...from the Pilot where Jonathan reveals to Clark about how he was found to the final scene in Rosetta to the graveyard scene in Legacy. I absolutely loved their scene in Lazarus...Clark having doubts about himself and Jonathan there trying to uplift him...just beautiful. Frankly, there's just too many to name, but for me, it's a scene from the atrocious Forever (lol). Jonathan had gotten upset with Clark for applying to Kansas State. It's their last scene in the loft and Jonathan tells Clark about he had a free ride to MetU, but how he ended up staying because his father needed him too much on the farm. That that wasn't the kind of father he wanted to be. I loved Clark's response to him (paraphrasing): it's not the kind of father you are, but the kind of son I want to be. Then they hug. **sobs**

Clark/Lex: Soooo many great scenes from their first meeting to just recently. They have such great chemistry...the best from any other pairing. Their scenes in Descent where great. The final scene in Arctic. I'm keeping it short because then I'll be here forever.lol So I ultimately went with their scene in Covenant when Clark finds Lex "room", the confrontation and the last short scene they had when Clark tells him that their friendship is over.

Thanks for doing this.

Re: Clark Favorite Scenes - Part II
Loved reading your choices for the characters you loved.

I still laugh at how the Clark/Tess scenes made some people flip their ever lovin' minds. LOL

I completely love that Clark/Martha scene from Nicodemus. AOT is amazing there. It never fails to get me choked up. Your choice for them was a lovely one.

Want to know a secret? I like Forever. I mean, I'm not saying it was a great episode, or anything. But I enjoy that episode for some reason. And the Clark/Jonathan scene is probably part of it, because its a great one.

The Clex scene in Covenant is just cracking with chemistry, and hostile energy. I love it.

Thanks for playing :)

Sweet scenes! SV I miss you already. It is so weird not seeing the show in the lineup for the fall or any of us not bitching about spoilers, interviews or guest stars, lol!

I loved all those scenes especially the Clark/Kara from season 7. A scene that stands out for me is when CL is trapped in the phantom zone in season 8. I think after that their relationship just fell flat. I agree with another poster on how she wasn't needed but since they brought her on I wish they didn't butcher Kara so much after season 8.

Oliver/Clark scene was nicely done in the series finale. I think I am 3rd person on here who hates Oliver as much as you do. He was overused and should been bumped down to guest star after season 6.

Jimmy/Clark, aw! honorable mention scene was from season 8 it was the second half and Jimmy found out Clark was The Blur or something like that was golden. [I will never forgive SV for killing him the way they did.]

Clark/Tess had so many good scenes and the ones in season 10 stood out for me too. The amount of development was awesome and Clark jumping to conclusions but at the end was honest and apologetic, that is the true version of Clark coming out right there.
